Buried Treasure
The amazing thing about Christmas time is the waste. Every year, a couple weeks before Christmas we see piles of old scrap placed out the front of yards ready to be thrown away. This is all to make space for more stuff accumulated, acquired and received during the festive season.
This is also something my son loves, as he scouts out and searches for buried treasure in the way of toys and trinkets other have long lost love for. Last year he found an enormous pile of Lego with rocket ships and space trucks, but that is nothing compared to this years discovery.
An old 3/4 sized electric guitar. It has four rusted strings, missing tuning peg, rusted out jack input, loose and twisted bridge, dropped pickup and no strap buttons. Covered in dents, scratches, grit and grime.
The joy on his face when he walked in is too much to absorb as he yelled “Dad! I found a ‘REAL’ Electric Guitar, just like yours.“
So this is now our summer school holiday project, forsaking all other task, chores and jobs. We must get this fine instrument fully restored and functioning. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year as well.
